Overview of Veteran Family Connections (VFC)
Veteran Family Connections is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Leominster, Massachusetts. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the civilian community and military families, ensuring that veterans and active-duty service members feel supported, appreciated, and connected here at home.
We operate out of The Gardener’s Spot at 66 Granite Street in Leominster. The organization was founded by Neil Zanni, who currently serves as our Board President.
One of our core initiatives is The Distribution Shed — a permanent facility located at The Gardener’s Spot where community-donated goods and seasonal items are made available to veterans and military families throughout the year.
We are widely recognized for our Christmas Program(Season of Service), which provides free holiday items and decorations to military families. 500 plus items in a three week period is not uncommon. In addition, we host Veteran themed Story Time with Santa and other holiday-themed family events designed to bring families together in a welcoming, community-centered environment. In February we host a rose ceremony at local nursing homes, celebrating veterans and their service, that’s the quietest event, but truly the most touching. Blue Star and Gold Star mothers receive free Mother’s Day baskets on Mothers Day. It truly is about the entire family that serves.
Beyond seasonal outreach, we organize social engagement activities such as arts and crafts sessions and family portrait days. These events are specifically designed to help military families bond, build relationships, and feel a deeper sense of belonging in North Central Massachusetts.
Finally, VFC serves as a grassroots advocacy group to help build lasting community ties. Our goal is not just to provide material support, but to create meaningful integration between military families and the civilian community.
